Cooperative Insider special edition on the cooperative answers to COVID-19 is out!

22 Mar 2021

The latest issue of the ICA’s Coop Insider newsletter, which looks at cooperative answers to COVID-19, is now available in three languages.

The newsletter includes a series of case studies, from Midcounties Cooperative in the UK helping vulnerable customers, to IFFCO in India driving food security, or health cooperatives across the world delivering life-saving services. It also looks at how housing cooperatives benefit their residents, the impact of COVID-19 on youth and the role of cooperative banks in continuing to offer financial services to people and businesses.

Across Africa, cooperatives have been actively mitigating risk and responding effectively to COVID-19 – the newsletter showcases some of these efforts.

Readers will also learn about Canadian ICMIF member The Co-operators, which is supporting small and medium-sized cooperatives as they adapt in a shifting economic landscape in the wake of COVID-19 and more on Cooperative Europe’s report on how COVID-19 has affected cooperatives across the continent provides an overview of the pandemic’s impact.

These challenges, along with the opportunities ahead for the sector, will be discussed at the World Cooperative Congress to be held in the Republic of Korea where cooperators will explore visions for a post-pandemic society. With the Congress due to take place in December, the ICA is inviting cooperative researchers, experts and practitioners to make submissions on themes involving the Cooperative Identity.

There is also the latest news from the global cooperative movement, including the launch of the World Cooperative Monitor, the ICA taking over the chair of COPAC, and the launch of Mondragon City Challenge.
